How do PicnicHealth’s AI features work?

  • updated 1 mth ago

Important: AI tools are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

PicnicHealth includes AI tools to help you make sense of your medical records. These include blurbs to describe different tests, procedures, medications etc, and the ability to highlight and define any piece of text within your medical records and related information.

Considerations when using AI features

We hope that PicnicHealth’s AI features can provide you with additional clarity when viewing your medical data. However, it is important to keep in mind the following:

  • AI-generated content is for informational purposes only: AI features are intended for informational purposes only. Outputs may not reflect the most current medical research or guidelines. You should always consult with a healthcare provider before making any decisions based on this information.

  • AI is not always accurate: due to the complexities and limitations of current AI technologies, the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated content can vary. You should use your judgment when reading AI generated content and should continue to do your own research.  If you come across something that you feel is inaccurate, please reach out to us at help@picnichealth.com. Your feedback is valuable in allowing us to continue to improve these features.

  • AI is not a substitute for a doctor: AI-generated content should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice from a physician, nurse or other licensed clinical professional. PicnicHealth’s AI features are based on a baseline foundation of medical knowledge, however it does not take into account your personal circumstances and how something may apply to you individually.

How data is used

At PicnicHealth, we primarily use our own models to provide AI-generated content and power our features. Data you highlight or input when using AI features is only used for generating responses or outputs. Your data is not stored anywhere outside of PicnicHealth.

How to guides

Using Smart Highlights

One of the ways you can use AI in your records is to highlight any piece of text and define it in context.

  1. Using your cursor, highlight a piece of text in a document, note or anywhere on the page

  2. Click the button

  3. A definition will appear

  4. Click the x or anywhere outside the box to hide the definition.

Disable AI features

If you would prefer not to use PicnicHealth’s AI features, you can update your account preferences and AI features will be turned off.

  1. In the menu, select Account Settings

  2. Scroll to the bottom of Account Overview and find the AI features setting

  3. Toggle the setting to OFF

When this setting is turned off, you will not see AI-generated Info Blurbs and will not be able to use Smart Highlights.
