What is HIPAA?
Edited
HIPAA stands for the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. It’s a U.S. law that was passed in 1996. The law has several elements, including allowing people to transfer their health insurance when they change jobs (hence the name). In recent years, HIPAA has become better known for regulating how protected health information (PHI) must be handled to ensure privacy.
