Child & Teenager Accounts
Child Accounts (Under 13)
If your child is under 13, a parent or legal guardian must create and manage their PicnicHealth account. Your child will not have their own login — all access, emails, reminders, and activities go through the managing account.
How Child Accounts Work:
The parent or guardian is the account holder and receives all emails, reminders, and notifications unless the child’s contact information is added to the account
Records are collected from the child's healthcare providers the same way as adult accounts.
Teenager Accounts (Ages 13–17)
This section is for teenagers and young adults participating in PicnicHealth for medical record collection.
Your parent or guardian enrolled you and manages your account on your behalf. But your account is about your health, your experiences, and your voice.
How Your Account Works
Because you are under 18, your PicnicHealth account is set up and managed by your parent or guardian. This means:
Your records and health information are accessible by the account manager.
Your parent or guardian receives emails and notifications about your account and study activities.
Your parent or guardian may need to let you know if there are tasks available for you to complete.
If you are an emancipated minor or have another legal arrangement that affects your account management, please contact us directly so we can support you appropriately.
Transitioning to an Adult Account
When you reach the age of maturity in your state, you become a legal adult and will have the option to take over full management of your own PicnicHealth account. Your account manager will receive information about this process when the time comes.
This transition means:
You become the primary account holder
All notifications and communications will shift to you directly
You will need to review and re-sign any consent or authorization forms that require your independent adult authorization
Your medical records remain in your account — nothing is lost during this transition.
When Will This Happen?
PicnicHealth will notify your parent or guardian (the account manager) around your state's age-of-maturity birthday to begin the transition process. This will appear on their To-Do list as an action to complete. Follow the instructions to update the account’s contact information, your signature, and log-in details to transfer your account.
Once these steps are complete, you are fully in control of your account. You do not need to initiate this yourself. We will reach out when it is time.
What Happens to My Parent or Guardian's Access?
After the transition is complete, your parent or guardian will no longer have access to your account. This is to protect your privacy as an adult.
If you would like your parent or guardian to continue having access to your records — for example, if they are still helping with your care — you can choose to keep them as an account manager.
What If I Do Not Want to Continue Participating?
Participation is always voluntary. If you decide that you do not wish to continue participation, you have the right to withdraw. Contact our support team and we will walk you through the process or adjust your participation within your settings.
